I’ve edited a lot of things over the past two decades, and I’m usually handling multiple jobs at the same time. Currently, I’m lucky enough to be working on two exciting and high-profile projects at the same time.

The first is Numenera, the new tabletop roleplaying game created by superstar designer Monte Cook. Numenera is a science-fantasy game set a billion years in Earth’s future, with simple rules that make it easy and fun to play. I recently finished editing the Player’s Guide, which is now in layout, and I just started working on the more comprehensive Corebook that presents everything you need to know. I’m thrilled to be part of this imaginative new game that has obviously struck a chord with fans—as a Kickstarter project, it raised more than half a million dollars.

My other big project right now is Torment: Tides of Numenera—hey, where have I heard that name before? Torment is a new computer roleplaying game being developed by inXile Entertainment, and it uses the world of Numenera as its setting. The spiritual successor to the 1999 classic Planescape: Torment, the new game promises to deliver a rich, complex narrative. In fact, the writing is so important to the game that they hired an editor—me—to be part of the team. The fact that I’m also editing Numenera is a bonus because I can ensure consistency between Torment and the tabletop setting. The Kickstarter campaign for Torment is now live!

Okay, I need to get back to work now. But when you look at the cool things I get to edit, “work” might be the wrong word.
